Highland is a hamlet in the town of Lloyd NY that has gained much notoriety because of the development of "Walkway Over the Hudson" which is a foot traffic bridge from the town of Highland (Lloyd) to the city of Poughkeepsie. I'd consider this area to be a bedroom community because of the access to Poughkeepsie with it's major shopping and large employers. After a long day of work time for some serious retail therapy.
