Dated 1790, original construction of the rear of the structure and completed prior to 1825, this building was built as a private residence for Isaac Seelye. The walls, of which, were built to withstand bullets and arrows. Notably in the historic district of Cherry Valley, New York. Large rooms, original windows and hardwood, could all be brought back. There are two fireplaces on the first floor, and in 1978 there was a large cooking fireplace in the old kitchen with a Dutch oven adjacent to it. The building passed through three owners and eventually sold to "Odd Fellows" in approximately 1935 and became Odd Fellows Hall. Purchased in 2017 from the Grand Lodge of the State of New York, I.O.O.F, with the idea of a full renovation, the pandemic put all ideas on hold. Now this property is back on the market and with the help of the NYS Homeowner Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credits, could once again become the beauty it once was and stand as a landmark for Cherry Valley.
