On the National Register, this is the landmark Thomas H. Russell home. Located on the brick streets of Historic 4th Street in Massillon, the area was called 'Millionaires Row' for all the prominent business leaders who lived there. Built by top craftsmen of the day. It was designed by N.P. Charlotte and built by John Meinhart who built other homes on the street. Woodwork throughout the home is rare Butterscotch Oak. Square carved posts anchor the stairs in the front entry hall. Double pocket doors lead to the lengthy grand salon with hardwood floors and matched herringbone details in the corners and a box bay window in the front. This was the first home to be built with plate glass windows. The home has been the social center of Historic 4th, hosting elaborate dinners, wedding receptions and other events. This would be a grand home. A carriage house which once housed horses and carriages now serves as a separate guest house which has been registered as a bed and breakfast site.
