Sprawling pasture in the beautiful Gyp Hills of Barber Co.
Barber Co. South Pasture is located 15 miles Southwest of Medicine Lodge, KS. In an area known for its beautiful gypsum hills and world class deer hunting in the famed Unit 16. This pasture is not immune to the iron oxide-stained picturesque red bluffs that make this area so unique. +/-1183 acres of pasture that is veined throughout the property with creek beds and rolling native grasses. The prominent soil on the property is Vernon Clay Loam with 5-15 percent slopes. There are plenty of pockets of soil on the property that would lend to food plots for wildlife. A spine of bluffs runs down the length of the property on the west side near the two most prominent ponds, of the several, that are dispersed throughout the sprawling postage stamp layout. The creek that meanders on and off the property in the southeast corner is also the location of the most densely wooded area on the property. Additional springs are also located throughout leaving this property with now shortage of water access. With the forces of nature that have graced this area of the state over the last several years it has made it necessary for all fencing on the property to be well maintained and in many places completely replaced. The corrals on the northeast corner are in great working order. Located in the heart of deer management unit 16 the is understandably no shortage of wildlife in this area. With plenty of water on site and well-maintained habitats in the area this pasture is no stranger to big bucks. Plenty of diverse makes for great upland bird habitats and the ponds reeds make for natural blinds to hunt waterfowl. Currently home to 60 pairs, there is room for upwards of 100 pair.
